Every model launch carries a physical ledger: chips, data centers, electricity, networks, cooling and the people who operate them. The 2025 AI race made that ledger harder to ignore.

Infrastructure is not background scenery for autonomy. It sets who can build, who can access systems and how costs are distributed. A serious account of AI progress must count the machines beneath the model.

Robotics

A robot that can move still needs a worksite

Robotics coverage often begins with the body: can the machine walk, grasp, see or navigate? Deployment begins somewhere less cinematic. It begins with a worksite, a task boundary, a maintenance plan and a person who knows when to stop the machine.

Agents

The agent platform is becoming a product

OpenAI’s Agents API turns a familiar promise into a managed service: developers can now build cloud agents that run code, work with files, create artifacts and coordinate subagents inside environments provisioned by OpenAI.
