Claude 3.7 Sonnet made a product category visible: a model that could answer quickly, spend longer reasoning and work through a coding task as an agent. The important change was not a single benchmark. It was the connection between model deliberation, a terminal and a human review loop.

Coding agents expose the difference between producing a plausible answer and maintaining a working system. They need repository context, tests, permissions and a clear boundary around what may be changed. More reasoning can help, but it also makes provenance and interruption more important.

The coding workflow became an early laboratory for delegated work. It showed that autonomy is not a personality trait. It is a stack of tools, authority and review.

n8n turns workflows into tools for AI agents

n8n’s new Agents feature lets a model choose among workflows and connected tools, while keeping credentials and approvals inside the automation platform. The design puts a familiar workflow layer between an AI system and business operations.

Agents need a handover protocol

An agent that works for minutes or hours does not merely need a better prompt. It needs a handover protocol: a durable account of what it was asked to do, what it tried, what remains uncertain and who can take over.

The agent platform is becoming a product

OpenAI’s Agents API turns a familiar promise into a managed service: developers can now build cloud agents that run code, work with files, create artifacts and coordinate subagents inside environments provisioned by OpenAI.
