The agent economy will depend on infrastructure that no single product team can safely improvise: identity, provenance, permission, interoperability and incident reporting. These are public-interest functions even when the systems sit inside private platforms.

The question is not whether every layer must be centralized. It is whether people and institutions can move between systems without losing the evidence of who acted, with what authority and under which rules. A universe of agents needs civic plumbing.

Robotics

A robot that can move still needs a worksite

Robotics coverage often begins with the body: can the machine walk, grasp, see or navigate? Deployment begins somewhere less cinematic. It begins with a worksite, a task boundary, a maintenance plan and a person who knows when to stop the machine.

Agents

The agent platform is becoming a product

OpenAI’s Agents API turns a familiar promise into a managed service: developers can now build cloud agents that run code, work with files, create artifacts and coordinate subagents inside environments provisioned by OpenAI.
